Samsung is working on a new 1.6-inch camera sensor as per leaks
Updated: October 01, 2023 18:36According to many leaks on various social media, Samsung is working on a new camera sensor for the past year. Previously the company has launched its flagship S23 series with the models like Samsung Galaxy S23, Samsung Galaxy S23+, and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The high-end Ultra's quad-rear camera unit comes with a 200-megapixel primary sensor with a wide-angle lens, the second Cemara is a 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, the third is a 10-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens, and the last 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 10x optical zoom. It seems to be the most advanced premium Cemara model in the entire smartphone. But now the company is placing to take a one step forward.
One Twitter account name Sammobile spotted a tweet by tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve) hinting that tech giant Samsung is working on a new batch of ISOCELL camera sensors. The listed sensors will be in mass production from half of 2024 next year. According to a Twitter user, the 50-megapixel ISOCELL GN6 will have a 1.6-inch sensor, a 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP7 will have a 0.6-inch sensor and a 440-megapixel ISOCELL HU1 with an unspecified-sized sensor. If these leaks will be right Samsung will rule the smartphone market with its Cemara sensor. Although Sony is ruling the markets with its current Cemara sensors, we expect to have one more player in the market soon.
The ISOCELL GN6 will be the first biggest 1-inch sensor. This sensor will give tough competition to the current Sony IMX989 sensor.
According to some leaks, the 440-megapixel ISOCELL HU1 camera sensor is expected to be a larger sensor than a 1-inch. Since the company is also working on its smart-driving cars, we can't guess that Samsung will use this camera sensor only in its smartphone. On the other hand, I have proper knowledge about the company is also working on up to a 600-megapixel resolution of camera that we will be able to see on its devices.
